OASIS have been honoured with a lifetime achievement prize at the Silver Clef Awards.

The GALLAGHER brothers and their ever-changing line-up have proved beer-swigging, hip-swaggering and the occasional obscene finger gesture can nab you the top industry accolade.

The legendary Britpoppers share the trophy, which is awarded to raise funds for music therapy charity Nordoff-Robins, with PAUL WELLER and U2.

Other winners at the London bash include THE FRATELLIS,who picked up Best British Band by following in the footsteps of last year's winners SNOW PATROL.

Oasis shot to fame in the early 90s, rivalling pretty boys DAMON ALBARN, ALEX JAMES and GRAHAM COXON from chart-topping BLUR .

Their third record Be Here Now was the fastest-selling album in chart history when it was released in 1997.
