Big t**s spark an Olympic row Empty Big t**s spark an Olympic row

A SONG with a naughty name by THE KOOKS has sparked an Olympic-size row.
British sailing champs Ben Rhodes and Stevie Morrison are huge music fans and have a tradition of naming boats after songs or singers.

But their latest choice, Jackie Big T**s — a song from Inside In/Inside Out, the first album by The Kooks — has outraged humourless officials at this summer’s Beijing Games.

The International Olympic Committee has ordered them to scrub it off their boat and replace it with something “more appropriate” — even though it is said to be bad luck to change a vessel’s name.

If Ben and Stevie had a picture of Page 3’s KEELEY on the side of their 49er dinghy, I might understand.

But this is just a bit of fun in an otherwise dull sport.

The duo among the UK’s brightest medal hopefuls, ran into the same problem with the stuffy Royal Yachting Association last year.

They were ordered to ditch Jackie ahead of a regatta in Devon because it set the wrong tone for younger entrants — which simply wouldn’t do.

But they weathered the storm and refused to rename their well-endowed vessel. Previous boat titles have been inspired by BRITNEY SPEARS and a track by THE STONE ROSES.

Stevie said: “We’ve always named our boats after songs and Jackie Big T**s is one by The Kooks we liked. We’ve also had a boat called Britney and another named Sally Cinnamon.

“It’s not the same if your boat just has a number, is it?”

They might have won that battle but with Olympic bigwigs sticking their oar in, Stevie and Ben have no choice but to give up their Big T**s. They will now compete under the banner Little Miss Pipedream, after THE WOMBATS’ track.

Of all the awards the Scouse rockers thought they might ever have a hand in winning, I doubt an Olympic medal was on the list.

When I broke the news to the band, they were chuffed to bits and wished Stevie and Ben all the best.

Frontman MATTHEW MURPHY said: “It's pretty legendary to be given such an honour. Let’s hope Britain sail to victory in Little Miss Pipedream with some marsupial wind behind them.

“Best of luck in Beijing, be careful which karaoke bars you go to!”
